REWIND, OHIO

Mara Voss thought the past was something you could leave behind. Then she found a VHS tape that should never have existed.

Hidden behind the staff-only door of a seemingly ordinary video store, Gran Izzy’s secret laboratory is filled with obsolete televisions, VCRs, strange instruments and years of forbidden research into fractured timelines. When Mara discovers a battered cassette labelled MARA VOSS — 9/14/09 — DON'T PLAY, curiosity gets the better of her.

The tape shows something impossible: five-year-old Mara standing beside a payphone in 2009. Then she hears a voice she thought she'd lost — Jules. As the footage begins responding to her, Mara realizes she's no longer watching a recording. Something on the other side is watching her back.

Gran Izzy knows more than she's letting on. Her warning comes too late. The television stops behaving like a screen, reality begins to fracture, and Mara is pulled into a world that should exist only in the recording.

Part sci-fi mystery, part absurdist sitcom, REWIND, OHIO follows Mara as she navigates alternate realities, impossible encounters and the consequences of trying to change what has already happened. Guided by a sarcastic, sentient 2004 toy called Furble and haunted by cryptic warnings from the people closest to her, Mara must uncover how the timelines connect — and why her own past seems to be at the centre of it all.

Because the past isn't simply repeating itself. Someone, or something, is stitching reality together around regret, one choice at a time.

And finding Jules might be the one thing that breaks everything.
