Agent Monarch: The Beginning

Ten years earlier. A strike team pushes through the neon-lit corridors of a fortified compound under heavy fire. At the front are two operatives: a scarred, short-haired soldier and his long-haired partner. A grenade rolls into the hallway and the corridor erupts. They fight their way deeper, toward a sealed control room at the heart of the facility.

What’s waiting inside isn’t human anymore.

A pale man in a long black coat, his skull lined with implants, takes the squad apart with his bare hands. When he turns, light pours out of his chest and eyes. He’s part machine, and the soldiers’ training is no match for him. Bodies hit the floor. The scarred soldier is thrown down. For a moment it looks like the mission is over.

Then someone else walks out of the shadows.

A gaunt, long-haired figure in black steps over the fallen. The partner raises his pistol. The figure doesn’t flinch. He just stares, as if he already knows how this ends.

Cut to black.

When the smoke clears, the city is burning, and the survivors stand together as something new: a unit. This is the night the legend of Agent Monarch begins.

Part cyberpunk action, part techno-occult mystery, Agent Monarch adapts the novel Faces of Babel: Theurgia Sybernetica. It’s set in a future where cybernetics and something older than technology have merged, and the people who control that power will do anything to keep it.
