The Girl at My Funeral

[ Romantic mystery-thriller · Pilot ]

After surviving a murder attempt disguised as a car accident, a man attends his own funeral in secret and discovers that the stranger crying hardest in the crowd is the one person who can tell him who he used to be.

Plot

Reyansh Malhotra, a young Mumbai businessman, is declared dead after a truck hits his car on the Pune-Mumbai expressway. He wakes in a small nursing home near Lonavala, learns the police have identified a burnt body in his car as his, and receives three anonymous texts: someone wanted him in that car. He decides to stay dead for one hour - long enough to watch his own funeral from across the road.

There he sees his mother, sister, uncle, cousin and fiancée, and one woman nobody comforts: Meher Ahuja, shattered, hand pressed to her mouth. He has never seen her before. She knows his name, his habits and his fears. Her explanation is simple and devastating: the man he was once loved her, and Reyansh's family made sure he forgot.

The series runs two engines at once. One is a love story rebuilt from zero between two people, only one of whom remembers the first time. The other is a murder conspiracy hidden inside the Malhotra family business - which a dead man is uniquely placed to investigate.
